About Ann Peters School of Acting

With the agency being involved with all the early films shot in South Australia it became apparent that a school was needed. By casting, I learnt about auditioning from various directors. My observations on film sets and my experience as an actress gave me the expertise and knowledge with which to impart.

The school grew and is renowned for being the stepping stone into the industry for many "names".   Present and past students are working professionally here and overseas.

The school offers acting classes at all levels, for all media and ages. Class times vary depending on age and style of programme. Prices range from $50 for a 2 hour workshop up to $535 for 4 hours once a week for 10 weeks.

Students train only within their own age group. If you are interested in any of our programmes, contact us

Masterclasses

For those with previous training or experience.

Students put their craft into practice, in auditioning, working with directors, dissecting scripts, creating characters, working on the art of "being" and the given circumstances and then shooting the scenes to understand the technique of filming.

Classes are held in blocks of 2 terms, 2 hours once a week.

Auditioning

For those who struggle with the audition, due to lack of confidence, due to lack of know-how.

Weekend workshops.

We run a two hour workshop to see if you have the potential to be a voice over artist. Experience in acting an advantage, but not a necessity. $100.00. Any age.

A weekend workshop will be an option, if we feel you have potential. Call for more information.

Art is a product of one's imagination.

Don't play what's there, play what's not there.

Acting is living truthfully in imaginary circumstances.

Life beats down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one.

An ounce of behaviour is worth a pound of words.

The actor has to develop his body. The actor has to work on his voice. But the most important thing the actor has to work on is his mind.

Real acting is impossible to spot. Do you ever catch talents like Robert Duvall or Kathy Bates acting? No. I defy you to show me where.

 - William Esper

The best acting is instinctive. It's not intellectual, it's not mechanical, it's instinctive.

 - Craig MacDonald

Acting is not about being someone different. It's finding the similarity in what is apparently different, then finding myself in there.

 - Meryl Streep

If the environment permits it, anyone can learn whatever he chooses to learn; and if the individual permits it, the environment will teach him everything it has to teach. Talent or lack of talent have little to do with it.
